Crafting Spatial Harmony: Office & Library Space GB65 by Metro Arquitetos Associados

Metro Arquitetos Associados, led by Gustavo Cedroni and Martin Corullon, undertook the design project for the office, library, and studio of art director Giovanni Bianco – GB65. Situated within the Jardins district of São Paulo, each space spans an area of 140m2 across different floors of the same building.

Office Space: Modular Elegance

The GB65 office embodies a spacious and interconnected environment characterized by a modular rhythm facilitated by a prominent metal bookcase. This expansive structure not only organizes the workspace but also offers adaptability through sliding panels and mobile shelves. The unity of the project is further emphasized by the hydraulic tile flooring, creating a cohesive aesthetic throughout.

Library Space: Organic Simplicity

Located on a separate floor, the library is a testament to organic simplicity, achieved through modular wooden elements meticulously crafted to design furniture pieces such as shelves, tables, ceilings, and lamps. By employing solid wood knots and marine plywood panels, the design team ensured coherence in every aspect of the art director’s library and studio.

Material Selection and Atmosphere

Cedroni explains, “In both projects, we chose to use few materials, anticipating Giovanni’s work to imbue the space with diverse colors and shapes. We aimed for a distinct atmosphere between the office and the library, achieved through the selection of structuring elements: steel for the office and wood for the library.”

Functional Beauty

Addressing the challenge of accommodating a collection exceeding 8 thousand items in the library, the architects designed a modular system capable of bearing varying loads and dimensions. This meticulous approach ensures functionality without compromising on beauty and lightness, as Martin concludes, “We aimed to marry functionality with beauty and lightness, ensuring a harmonious blend of form and function.”

Conclusion

Office & Library Space GB65, envisioned by Metro Arquitetos Associados, transcends conventional design boundaries to create environments that seamlessly integrate form and function. Through meticulous attention to detail, modular elegance, and material coherence, the project embodies a harmonious union of spatial aesthetics and practicality, offering an inspiring setting for creativity and productivity.
