Neolith’s Contribution to Chase Center A Sustainable and Inviting Arena

Introduction

The Chase Center, nestled in Mission Bay, San Francisco, serves as the home ground for the Golden State Warriors, embodying not only a sporting arena but also a vibrant community hub. Designed to seamlessly integrate into its urban surroundings while leaving a lasting impression, the Chase Center stands as a testament to innovative architectural design and sustainability.

Distinctive Design Challenges

The architects, Manica Architecture, faced the daunting task of crafting a building that marries futuristic aesthetics with timeless elegance, devoid of a conventional rear facade. Embracing the challenge, they envisioned a structure that exudes warmth and invitation from every angle, fostering a sense of inclusivity and engagement with the surrounding community.

Material Selection: Neolith® Integration

In pursuit of a durable, aesthetically pleasing solution for the building’s base, Neolith® emerged as the material of choice. Evolv Surfaces, in collaboration with Manica Architecture, specified patinated Neolith® Iron Corten, characterized by its bold orange hues and inherent resilience. Customized to meet the project’s unique requirements, the Neolith slabs, combined with PURETi treatment, contribute to the arena’s sustainability efforts by actively reducing greenhouse gases.

Reflecting Nautical Heritage

Drawing inspiration from San Francisco’s rich maritime history, the architects sought materials that pay homage to the bay’s nautical legacy. The white metal cladding, reminiscent of billowing sails, evokes a sense of movement and fluidity, harmonizing with the waterfront locale and adding a touch of maritime elegance to the arena’s facade.

Harmonizing with Surroundings

While respecting the area’s architectural vernacular, Manica Architecture opted for a departure from Mission Bay’s linear aesthetic by embracing curved forms and seamless transitions. The circular design of the arena softens the neighborhood’s predominantly cuboid structures, infusing the space with a sense of organic flow and visual intrigue.

Community Integration

Beyond its architectural prowess, the Chase Center stands as a beacon of community engagement, offering open public spaces and walkways year-round. Designed to foster a sense of belonging and celebration, the arena serves as a gathering place for residents and visitors alike, embodying the spirit of camaraderie and collective joy.

Neolith: A Sustainable Solution

All Neolith slabs boast a 100% natural composition and are produced in a carbon-neutral environment, aligning seamlessly with the Chase Center’s commitment to sustainability. Not only does Neolith offer unparalleled durability and performance, but it also ensures a safe and hygienic environment for all occupants, further enhancing its appeal in both residential and professional applications.

In essence, the integration of Neolith into the Chase Center exemplifies a harmonious blend of architectural innovation, sustainability, and community engagement, transforming a mere sporting arena into a vibrant cultural landmark at the heart of San Francisco’s urban fabric.
